It is considered the oldest shrine recorded in literature nationwide and has long been deeply revered as the principal shrine of Awaji Province.
This venerable ancient shrine was established in Taga, Awaji Island, where it is said Izanagi-no-Mikoto spent his remaining years after completing the creation of the islands.
